About Corrie Sams

"Music is a family tradition for me. We never had any famous musicians in our lineage, but the music was always there and loved.   I hope to carry on that tradition and bring the gift of music to others that they might have the joy of it throughout their lifetime."

Growing up in a family where music was an almost daily occurrence, Corrie Sams took some piano lessons when she was young.   This set the foundation for her to learn the accordion when, in 2000, she began learning to play an accordion that had been gifted to her in 1998.    She was self-taught until 2005 when she discovered that accordion teachers did, indeed, exist.  It was then that she had the privilege of meeting Patricia Bartell and beginning her studies with her.

Since then, Corrie has had the opportunity to compete in both the Kimberly International Accordion Championships and the Leavenworth International Accordion Celebration.  She has had the pleasure of being part of the Spokane Accordion Ensemble and is now an enthusiastic member of The Portatos, a young radical accordion band.

Now that she is part of the Able to Play Studio team, Corrie feels honored to be able to teach such a ground-breaking method as Simply Music.

"I am pleased to have Corrie Sams on board as a teacher at Able To Play Studio! She has a sweet disposition and creates a fun environment for teaching.  Her students love her and look forward to their lessons." - Patricia Bartell, Founder and Director of Education of Able To Play Studio.
